Heroicology Submissions

Rogue Blades Presents:

Heroicologies*

where YOU build YOUR
own anthology of heroic tales

  • Authors and artists who have worked with RBE in the past are welcome to submit material at any time, via email or the below form.
  • All other authors and artists interested in providing material for Heroicologies should contact RBE via the below form.
  • ONLY authors who have previously worked with RBE may submit un-published works. Heroicologies will be unedited titles simply assembled by RBE in an on-going effort to preserve, promote, and publish quality heroic adventure tales in a manner that allows readers to create combinations of their favorite authors and stories. It is only through past experience with the professionalism and quality of an author’s work that RBE is able to confidently publish such un-previously published (and thus un-edited by another with vested interest in its quality) material. Authors that have appeared in RBE titles have met these criteria. They also understand and accept that their work will not be edited.
  • The only content control that RBE will conduct is whether the material submitted is heroic adventure in nature. RBE is the sole judge of whether each piece meets this standard.
  • While RBE is predominantly a publisher of heroic adventure fantasy, Heroicologies will not be restricted to just works of speculative fiction. As the library of material available to Heroicologies customers grows, it will provide all of the genres of heroic literature, such as Westerns, hard-boiled crime, mysteries, war, espionage, and science fiction, space opera, horror, and fantasy.
Any questions or comments other than submissions can be sent via the RBE Contact Form.
*Heroicologies are not yet available.

What an amazing concept. God I hope this takes off! I will definitely be buying a copy or 2. Please keep us informed on this!

I am very excited about it too, Don. Thanks for voicing your support!

I plan to also include classic tales of heroic adventure that are now a part of public domain. Sites like Project Gutenberg have provided a wonderful resource for fans of such stories. Readers can anticipate being able to select tales from authors such as Edgar Rice Burroughs, Alexandre Dumas, Jack London et al. Once I find the time to layout these stories in the manner best suited for the RBE Heroicologies, readers will finally be able to put that favorite Rafael Sabitini story beside the latest from Bill Ward or Ty Johnston.

Time is all that holds such things at bay. As a matter of fact, anyone with some time on their hands would be welcome to assist. RBE would certainly love the help :)

I like the sound of this ,Jason. The idea of genre specific anthologies is cool. What sort of help did you have in mind, by the way? Cheers: Jaq.

        Hi Jaq!
I hope the trails have been treating you well in 2010!

The Heroicology help I am a’lookin’ for is a simple yet time-consuming task that could be done entirely on your own timetable, is you were so interested.

I want to collect public domain heroic tales (a la Project Gutenberg Australia and Europe and anywhere else anyone knows of) for use in RBE’s Heroicologies. I want Edgar Rice Burroughs, Jack London, myths, legends, Max Brand, Raymond Chandler, punk, Victorian — any and everything that’s of the heroic genres.

There’s two levels of work & need to this: Finding the stories is the first task, and very time consuming. Second task is cleaning the stories up for layout editing to be on par with the more current stories that will be available. This will allow for simple insertion by me when a Heroicology is created. That I can handle in between other editing, I just do not have time to do the searching and I really would like to get these Heroicologies up and running. Finding me the stories would be a great help, no matter how slowly you progress, as it will much faster than I :)

A while back I created a Google DOC to input the stories anyone found so we can all avoid duplication work. So far it’s empty. I’ll grant access to the DOC to anyone interested in lending a hand. Helpers would type in the authors, story titles and other info of the stories they are working on, then upload the story (not a link) as another Google DOC into the shared Heroicologies folder. I can access them from there and get to editing them, and building the Heroicology library.

While I don’t expect anyone to do this for free, I also can’t really afford to pay up front for work, so I’m considering offering payment via a combined commission and discount, which I will discuss privately with anyone interested in tackling this finding task. :)

Email me the Google DOC thingy and I’ll send you some of the stories you’re interested in.
