Updates & Interviews

Apologies to all for the delayed – now officially missing – weekly interview. I will consider this week skipped and post what was this week’s interview next Monday.

As to the reasons why, in brief, I and my family are moving. That means RBE is as well. A little run down of events should inform everyone of the heroic amount of work we’ve been doing these last few weeks:

  • We’ve sold our home…but had to do some work to address a problem the seller’s home inspection discovered.
  • We found a home (after looking at close to 300) that we liked…only to have someone else swoop in and buy it.
  • We found another home that was halfway remodeled and in condition to allow us to finish it…but the owners wanted the price of a completed home and wouldn’t budge.
  • We found a third home that had been on the market a while and so had just had its price reduced to our level, made an offer, was accepted, had our home inspection…and found that the basement wall requires $8k of repair. So, multiple inspections and contractors later, we should find out today or tomorrow if the current owners will do the work or if we’re out another home.

If they do the work, it will take right up to our closing, so there won’t be any advance moving in or installing fences for the dogs and cable for the RBE office until June. Not ideal, but we’ll have a house.

If they don’t do the work, I can’t afford to, the acceptance expires, and I and my family are without a home to move to in three weeks.

<sigh>

So. In between all of that I have been plugging away at layout for Rage of the Behemoth. This is the most difficult part of the whole thing for me; it is very tedious and it takes me a long time to correct any mistakes…which happen a bit more often than you’d think. Not offering excuses, still planning to be on time…just keeping y’all informed.

I appreciate the visits to the RBE site, the pre-orders that have been coming in, the continual submissions to Demons, the requests for reviews and the new reviews coming out. RBE’s fan base is fabulous and growing, and I owe that to all of the wonderful authors, artists, and volunteer supporters who make each project spectacular.

Tune in next week, when I pick up with the next RotB author interview!

About The Author

Jason
Jason M. Waltz is the founder and sole operator of RBE. A passion for heroic adventure fantasy drove him from comfortably reading it to sometimes writing it to occasionally reviewing it to carefully editing it to enthusiastically publishing it. Jason believes two things about the state of genre fiction: there will soon be a resurgence in the popularity of short fiction and in the popularity of heroic fantasy adventure, to include Sword & Sorcery. Jason plans for RBE to be a driving force in both.

    Ouch, you have my sympathy. I moved several times over the last few years, and house hunting is not something you can do one weekend in an hour.

    Good luck with that, as well as with RBE!
