That’s right. It is official. Rage of the Behemoth is complete.
Twenty-one authors have delivered twenty-one behemoths that will soon be raging between six monstrously awesome covers. I’ve read the stories – damn great! I’ve seen the covers - damn sweet!
Watch for regular announcements of accepted authors and finished artwork.

Jason M. Waltz is the founder and sole operator of RBE. A passion for heroic adventure fantasy drove him from comfortably reading it to sometimes writing it to occasionally reviewing it to carefully editing it to enthusiastically publishing it. Jason believes two things about the state of genre fiction: there will soon be a resurgence in the popularity of short fiction and in the popularity of heroic fantasy adventure, to include Sword & Sorcery. Jason plans for RBE to be a driving force in both.
Any idea on when the cover art will be done. It may sound lame, but I’ll likely order my copy based on the cover. Also, can we order ahead of time to reserve a special edition?
Good questions, not lame at all. Answers:
1 – Two of the covers are done; two are almost done; one hasn’t been begun yet.
2 – Covers will be revealed just as soon as both author and artist contracts are in place.
3 – I am encouraging orders ahead of time!
Here’s the ordering plan:
- special order numbered editions will be sold in a first come, first sold, first right of refusal order
- meaning, if a buyer orders RotB-Mountains, that buyer has first rights to all the matching numbered covers (e.g., buyer received Mountains #3, buyer has the right to all the #3 covers)
- so on for editions numbered 1 – 75
- once all 75 numbered sets have been broken, remaining books will be sold at buyer’s request (e.g., buyer chooses Jungles #32, again with the option for the remaining covers with that number)
- editions lettered A – Z are reserved for all contributing members of the anthology, each set in pre-determined order
- once all the RotB members have exercised their cover options, remaining lettered sets will be announced and available, again sold at the buyer’s request (e.g., buyer chooses Wastes #Z)
** there will be two special lettered sets unaccounted for – I have not decided if I will reserve these for the highest bidder, save them as donations to auctions or worthy causes, or simply save them as spectacular thank you gifts in the future.
